Session 1 – The Menopause Mind: Navigating Cognitive and Emotional Shifts
We will review current research on how hormonal fluctuations during menopause impact cognitive function and emotional regulation. We’ll explore the effects on concentration, memory, and “psychological flexibility,” and common emotional concerns such as anxiety and mood swings. Participants will learn practical strategies to improve mental clarity and emotional balance.
Session 2 – Finding Your Center: Managing Stress and Embracing Self-Care
This session focuses on understanding the body’s stress response, how it is affected by hormonal changes, and the impact of trauma on both body and mind. We’ll explore how past trauma can intensify stress reactions during menopause and discuss ways to calm the nervous system. The session will include a discussion of effective stress management techniques, with an emphasis on the role of self-care. Participants will explore how small, intentional actions can promote both physical and emotional well-being during this stage of life.
Session 3 – Cultivating Connections: Within and With Others
This session addresses the social and relational changes that often accompany menopause. We will reflect on the evolving dynamics of relationships, both with oneself and others. Participants will learn strategies for deepening connections, including improving communication and nurturing supportive networks, with an emphasis on fostering a sense of belonging and emotional intimacy.
Session 4 – Moving Forward: Resilience and Posttraumatic Growth
In the final session, we will explore resilience and posttraumatic growth, considering how menopause can serve as a catalyst for personal transformation. Participants will reflect on resilience-building techniques such as optimism, flexibility, and gratitude. The session will also highlight the importance of self-compassion and meaningful connections in fostering growth and creating a renewed sense of purpose.
